Kurinjal Peak Trek - A Two Day Overview

Day 0

  • Depart from Bangalore at around 8:00 PM ( approx )

Day 1

  • Reach homestay at around 6:00 Am, freshen up.
  • Have breakfast and start the trek.
  • Have packed lunch en-route
  • Reach the top. Catch the view of Kudremukh National Park range and descend
  • Reach homestay for dinner and campfire ( if weather permits )

Day 2

  • Wake up early morning and head out for a small morning walk to enjoy the western ghats peace and calmness
  • Freshen up and Have breakfast
  • Visit Elniru Falls
  • Depart to Bangalore at around 12:00 PM ( Approx )
  • Reach Bangalore by 10:00 PM ( approx )

Pickup Points

  • Following are the pick-up points & timings:
  • Please select your preferred pickup point from the drop-down list while booking
  • Any change in Pick up locations/ timings would be updated via mail 24 hours before the start of the trip
  • Drop-off points shall be the same as the pick-up points

Group Size

  • Max number of People 20
  • We have an equal male to female ratio for most of our treks
  • We require a minimum of  6 members to confirm the event
  • In case we fail to obtain the required minimum, a full refund or the option to transfer to any other event will be provided. (Option of transfer shall be subject to payment/refund of balance amount if any)
  • The Mode of Transport depends on Group Size. If Group Size is below 12 then Tempo traveler and if above 12 then it would be a Minibus.
  • As per the Government , COVID 19 Guidelines to follow Social Distancing the number of people in a vehicle will be as follows
  1.  Tempo Traveller ( 12 Seater ) – 8 pax + 1 Trek Leader
  2. Minibus ( 21 Seater ) – 15 pax + 1 Trek Leader
  3. Bus ( 33 Seater ) – 21 pax + 2 Trek Leader

Things to Carry

  • Xerox Copy of you Aadhar/Voter ID (Mandatorily required for permits)
  • Small backpack to carry your essentials during the trek
  • Power Bank
  • Warm Layer ( Kodaikanal has a cold temperature up to 6-10 Degree )
  • Water bottles – 2 (1 litre each)
  • Lunch Box & Spoon to carry your packed lunch
  • Raincoat/Bag covers in case of rains
  • A comfortable pair of shoes with good grip for trekking
  • Flip-flops for lazing around the campsite
  • Torch/Headlamp to be used at night

I'm a solo traveller, Can I join?

The interesting thing about traveling alone is that you get to meet new people from  diverse backgrounds, and towards the end you are no longer strangers. Is it safe for Women/Girls?

Safety and security is our priority at all times. Hence it is absolutely safe for women/girls to join us on our treks and travels. Our trek leaders accompany the team at all times, and our campsites are secured and safe for accomodation. We also have female trek leaders who accompany on most of our treks.

 

Do I have any other boarding points apart from the ones mentioned?

Yes, we do have options for picking a traveler on board with a few locations provided they are on the route to our destination. Following are the same:

  • Croma Store, Sony World Signal

  • Trinity Circle Metro Station

  • Yeshwanthpur Metro Station

  • Goraguntepalya Metro Station

  • Nayanadahalli Metro Station

I have booked the trek when will I get further updates regarding the trek?

Well, most of our treks are usually confirmed by Thursday and you would receive a BON VOYAGE mail that would contain details as regards Pickup Points ( Location and Timings ), Outdoor Leader ( Point of Contact ), Do’s and Don’ts. You’ll be added to Whatsapp Group for all the further updates.

How do I avail discounts?

What is cancellation policy?

For Departures from Bangalore: In the event that YOU cancel your trek, this is the cancellation policy we follow

  • If you cancel before 7 days – 90% of amount will be refunded
  • If you cancel between 3 – 6 days – 50 % of amount will be refunded
  • If you cancel between 0-3 days – No Refund

Note: For All The Above Refund Cases Transaction Fees/Internet Handling Charges will be dedcuted from the overall amount and balance amount shall be refunded. You can transfer your ticket to anyone so that you could save your hard earned money

“Transfer to a future date is only possible only if you cancel between 3-6 days before the trek date and not on the day of departure or a day before”

Notes

  • Please carry a xerox copy of your Voter ID/Aadhar card as the same is mandatorily required to obtain permits from the forest department.
  • Non-Indian nationals will have to pay an additional amount of Rs. 1,225 towards forest permits.
  • Consumption of alcohol, intoxicants and smoking would not be tolerated during the entire course of the journey and the trek. Kindly co-operate with us to make the experience more fun.
  • Do not expect any luxuries on the trip. The locations that we host are at remote places and we do our best to arrange the basic facilities. The goal is to be outdoors.
  • The Food that shall be provided will be Basic Veg Food. We do not serve Non-Veg Food.
  • Put Litter in its place, do not trash your travel.
  • Plan The Unplanned shall not be responsible for any of your belongings, valuables, jewellery etc.  Kindly do take care.
  • Please do not book with us, if you cannot accept the cancellation policy.
  • In case of Kudremukh Trek not allowed for any reasons whatsoever an alternate trek to Kurinjal Peak shall be arranged and the decision of Outdoor Leader shall stand final.We request everyone to co-operate and not come up with any complains. We do our best in arranging but do not go against the laws of forest department of Karnataka.

They say that the journey matters more than the destination. Well, Plan the Unplanned had got it all covered for us! Kurinjal trek during Ganesh Chaturthi was my second trek with PTU, and it was indeed very unique. Be it the food, the homestay, the itinerary , the travel, the destinations, the adventure activities, the trek leads, the energy, the life in each one of the team, was alarmingly and remarkably high, at all times! PTU focuses on authentic experiences! The traditional style food, the genuine joy of the celebration, the trails for treks, the scenic spots, the view points, all of it was so beautifully covered and planned in a subtle way, and easily executed with utmost joy, passion and lots of dedication. I would describe it as an immense experience, rich with the moments, and journey that was equally adventurous and amazing!

I went for Kurinjal Peak Trek. The trek was very well organized. The trek group was also really awesome. The quality of the accomodation, food, transportation provided was really good. Even the trekleads Nagashree and Srinivas were very helpful and supportive. Also the co-founder Jatin also joined us for first day of the travel. They all were really down to earth, friendly and were always available to help us. They were really focused on the safety of the people who travel with them and they did their best to keep us all together and safe.
I recommend this group to all the people who are looking to really enjoy a worth paying trek. I gurantee..you travel with them and you will never regret it.. !!

Solo Traveller

This was my first solo trek and Plan the Unplanned did not disappoint. They have an inspiring and passionate team. I joined PTU for Kurinjal trek and it was a beautiful monsoon trek with a good homestay for accomodation and an insanly good waterfall for a combination. The experience was not limited to trekking, We as a group bonded over icebreaker session, games, music and Dance. I ll love to join them again for other treks.
