A mere look of the Western ghat gives a feeling of belongingness and fullness. Combine it with adventure; you are in for an experience of a lifetime. Coorg is famous for its mountains, misty-cold weather throughout the year. While most people go to chill in Coorg and indulge in the Kodagu cuisine with local fruit wines, others choose to trek and explore the hills of Deccan. We invite you to this offbeat trek, nestled in the heart of Kodagu district—‘Tavoor Hills Coorg Trek‘ or ‘Dumchi Gudde‘.
In fact, the reasons to choose this trek are far more than many—the most important one is to connect with oneself. We are living in the digital era, and getting the pleasure of knowing oneself seem more distant than ever before. As we explore the charismatic offbeat trails, glimpses of mountains, filling greenery, chirps of indigenous birds and footprints of animals will leave a mark on your soul. Along with trekking on the Tavoor Ridge, you will also go to the sacred ‘Triveni Sangam‘. Along with this, you will also witness the origin of River Kaveri in Talacauvery.
Above all, you don’t have to involve in the planning, booking and looking for how-tos; Plan the Unplanned has already charted out a plan. In conclusion, go through the itinerary to know more, and book your experience with us.

Day 2
Following are the pick-up points & timings:
An overnight bus journey of 280 km will commence from Bangalore. Midway, we shall have a brief orientation followed by a fun-filled ice-breaking session where you will get to know your fellow trekkers better.
Subsequently, as you wake up on the roads gliding and sliding into the western ghats, the first rays of the sun will fill you up with divinity and peacefulness. After a light breakfast, we will begin our trek. Surprisingly, it is one of the lesser-known treks, and to our benefit, it is also one of the offbeat treks in Karnataka. In other words, get ready to taste clean air and natural beauty—without littered roads.
The trek begins after a kilometre stretch of the tar road. On the way, you will see plantations of Coffee, Mango, Cardamom etc. After this, the main trek starts with a gradual incline for 3 km. As mentioned, the trail is filled with trees and plants outgrowing themselves. Here, you cannot miss listening to the rare species of birds and insects. And if you are a bird watcher, it’s bliss for you.
Furthermore, some streams of water will surprise you from time to time. As you come out of the dense stretch, Tavoor Hills Peak will manifest itself. It’s enormous and daunting from a distance but equally thrilling and fun to climb. Finally, the last stretch is the ridge walk going up to the top of the hill. Once you reach the top, every kind of opportunity opens up – you can simply sit and introspect about anything in the world. From here, you will also get views of Kopatty Hills. After some time, we will descend to the base.
After coming down and eating food, we will proceed towards Triveni Sangam to take a holy dip and relieve any exhaustion. Lastly, we will traverse back to our homestay, where you can rest for the rest of the day.
Simultaneously, the next day starts with a tasty breakfast. You already know where we are headed now—Talacauvery. Specifically, the place will teleport you to the time of sage Agastya, who is considered the creator of River Kaveri. Note that it’s a holy place; therefore, wearing decent clothes is recommended. Otherwise, you will have to buy a ‘mundu’ and drape it before entering the temple.
After a while, we will start our return journey and aim to reach Bengaluru by 9:00 pm. On the way, feel free to indulge in games or just enjoy the scenic views of the changing landscape.
We start as strangers and become members of a family. On the whole, we care for you, and we are always happy to see you again – Check out our other itineraries and ring us soon. It would be a pleasure to seeing you again. Till then, take care and love life.
